What You’ll Experience, Welcome & Introduction.
Arrive at Aini’s homestay, overlooking peaceful rice fields. Enjoy a warm welcome with traditional snacks and refreshments as Aini shares her story — how local women have long used coconut oil as part of their daily life for cooking, healing, and self-care.
Preparing the Coconuts
You’ll start by cracking fresh coconuts and learning how to extract and grate the white coconut meat.
Aini will show you how to separate the coconut milk from the flesh — the first step in the traditional cold-press method.
You’ll hear fascinating insights into the symbolism of coconuts in Indonesian culture, representing life, resilience, and renewal.
The Boiling & Extracting Process
Watch the transformation as the coconut milk is gently boiled over fire until it separates into oil and coconut residue.
The rich, aromatic scent fills the air — and soon you’ll see pure, golden coconut oil emerging naturally, without any chemicals or additives.
Finishing & Packaging
Once cooled, the oil is carefully filtered and poured into your container.
You’ll take home your own bottle of freshly made organic coconut oil — 100% natural, eco-friendly, and made by hand.
Reflection & Local Stories
As the oil sets, sit with Aini for a chat over light refreshments. Learn about local traditions, eco-living, and community life in Bukit Lawang.
This is more than just a workshop — it’s a cultural exchange that celebrates sustainability, simplicity, and connection.
