Join us for a 6-day jungle expedition through the wild orangutan territory of Gunung Leuser National Park. This eco-friendly trek offers an immersive adventure, combining wildlife encounters with essential jungle survival skills. Along the way, you will learn how to build fires, set up camps, prepare jungle vegetables, fish for dinner, and discover the medicinal uses of rainforest plants.

Day 1 – Entering Orangutan Territory
08:00 AM: After breakfast, begin your trek through rubber and cocoa plantations (approx. 30 minutes).
Enter the orangutan territory and observe these incredible apes in their natural habitat, swinging through the trees, building nests, and foraging for food.
Other wildlife sightings may include black gibbons (siamang), white-handed gibbons (wau-wau), hornbills, monitor lizards, and snakes.
Evening: Set up camp below Mount Uning near the Landak River.
Day 2 – Along the Bohorok River
Trek along the riverbanks towards the Bohorok River, where it meets the Kuala Buluh.
With luck, you may encounter wild elephants in this remote area.
Evening: Overnight camping by the riverside.
Day 3 – Into the Heart of the Rainforest
Continue trekking deeper into the jungle along the Bohorok River and its tributaries.
Wildlife spotting: various monkey species, reptiles, and tropical birds.
Practice jungle skills such as fire-making and fishing.
Evening: Jungle camp in a new location, surrounded by rainforest sounds.
Day 4 – Remote Wilderness Exploration
Trek through pristine rainforest with opportunities to spot orangutans and gibbons in quieter areas.
Breaks at river spots for swimming and relaxation.
Lunch prepared jungle-style by your guide.
Evening: Overnight at a riverside camp.
Day 5 – Lau Terkicong Lake (Aceh Region)
Hike towards Lau Terkicong (Terkicong Lake), crossing streams and hills.
Enter the northern part of Sumatra’s Aceh region, a rarely visited and untouched jungle area.
Evening: Final night of camping in the rainforest.
Day 6 – Return to Bukit Lawang
Morning descent towards Bukit Lawang.
Enjoy your last jungle breakfast and reflect on the expedition.
Afternoon arrival at your guesthouse in Bukit Lawang.
