After breakfast, your guide will collect you from your hotel or guesthouse in Bukit Lawang at 09:00 am. You’ll then begin your journey into Gunung Leuser National Park in search of wild orangutans.
During the trek, your guide will share insights about the local wildlife, flora, and fauna you may encounter in the jungle. After lunch, continue trekking to spot more wildlife such as Thomas leaf monkeys, white-handed gibbons, black gibbons, long-tailed macaques, pig-tailed macaques, hornbills, peacocks, and monitor lizards. You will also learn about jungle plants and trees that can be used in traditional medicine.
In the late afternoon, you’ll reach the Bohorok River where you can swim, relax, and enjoy the fresh water. To return to Bukit Lawang, you can either walk or take the traditional rafting boat (“jungle style”) downstream. Your guide will bring you back to your guesthouse around 3:00–4:00 pm.
