05:00 AM – Pick-up from Medan
Start early! Your driver will collect you from your hotel in Medan (or a designated meeting point) in a private, air-conditioned car.
Enjoy a scenic 3.5–4-hour journey through rural Sumatra, passing palm oil plantations, villages, and forested landscapes on your way to Bukit Lawang, the gateway to Gunung Leuser National Park.
08:00 AM – Arrival in Bukit Lawang
Arrive at our riverside guesthouse for a welcome breakfast and short rest before your jungle adventure begins.
Meet your certified local guide, who will brief you on the trekking route, safety, and ethical wildlife guidelines.
08:30 AM – Ethical Jungle Trekking Adventure
Enter the UNESCO-listed Gunung Leuser National Park, one of the world’s richest rainforests and home to the endangered Sumatran orangutan.
Your 4–5-hour eco trek takes you through lush jungle trails and river valleys while your guide shares fascinating insights about:
Flora & fauna — from towering trees to tropical herbs used as traditional medicine.
Wildlife behavior & conservation — how orangutans survive in the wild and what’s being done to protect them.
You’ll likely encounter:
Orangutans swinging through the trees
Thomas leaf monkeys, gibbons, macaques, and hornbills
Colorful birds, butterflies, and exotic jungle plants
12:30 PM – Jungle Lunch & Rest
Stop in a shaded spot for a simple jungle lunch (local fried rice) and a tropical fruit break — fresh pineapple, bananas, or passionfruit, depending on the season.
Enjoy the peace of the forest while listening to the sounds of cicadas and distant gibbons.
01:00 PM – Continue Trek & Return by River Raft
After lunch, continue your trek, exploring new parts of the forest before heading toward the Bohorok River.
End your adventure with a traditional river tubing experience — a safe and exciting float back to the village using large rubber tubes (optional, or walk back if you prefer).
This unique “jungle taxi” ride lets you relax and enjoy views of the rainforest from the water — a perfect finale to your adventure.
03:30 – 04:00 PM – End of Trek & Refresh
Arrive back in Bukit Lawang, where you’ll have time to shower, rest, and enjoy a drink by the river before departing for Medan.
